Apply for The Finnish Documentary Guild’s mentoring by the 30th of October

Dokumenttikilta is organizing professional mentoring for its members for the first time. The goal is to help those working in various roles within documentary filmmaking to develop professionally.

This is support for broader and long-term professional growth, not just for project-specific consultations. You do not need to have a film in development or production to apply.

We welcome applications from various professional roles, from all over the country, from filmmakers with diverse backgrounds, from newcomers and more experienced professionals.

The mentees selected will include:

• 1 cinematographer

• 1 editor

• 1 sound designer

• 2 producers

• 3 directors and/or director-producers

Naturally, an applicant can represent multiple professional roles, or wish to develop in another area, in which case it is a good idea to mention on the application form which professional role you most wish to receive support for.

Mentors will select the applicants they wish to mentor based on the applications.

There will be 3 meetings with the mentor between November and February.

The content of the mentoring will be shaped by the applicant’s wishes as stated on the application form and the areas in which the mentor feels they can offer their expertise.

The mentee will write a learning diary from the meetings.

The mentor and mentee will agree whether to meet in person or remotely.

If necessary, travel support can be offered to those living outside the Uusimaa region.

The application is open until the 30th of October. The selection results will be announced in a couple of weeks.

Only members of Dokumenttikilta can apply for the mentoring program. If a non-member is interested in applying, they can first join Dokumenttikilta as a member.

Participation in the mentoring program is free of charge.
